Significance: The Sayville Yacht Club is located on Long Island's Great South Bay and was founded in 1920 as an evolution of the Southside Yacht Club, which was initially formed in 1901. The club burgee (flag) seen here was designed in 1904.
My grandparents joined the club in 1966 and kept their boat DEAMA (previously Marlin, of JFK fame) in the marina for decades. Subsequent generations of my family have continued club membership through today, and the "yacht club" look and lifestyle are very much woven into OLD SOLDIER.
