Tumas Dock Crewneck Sweatshirt

Year: Late 1970s/early 1980s
Significance: Tuma's Dock opened in the 1940's as the first public charter service for sport fishing in Montauk, NY, effectively starting the sport fishing and tourist business in Montauk.
The Dock was founded by Frank Tuma Sr., who according to the Montauk Sun "was an avid fisherman, and ran a lobster boat, and later, got the idea to start the first charter boats, along with his brother, Charlie Tuma. They would take tourists who came out on the LIRR, and take them sport fishing." The Tuma family ran the dock for generations and added a tackle shop, gift shop and restaurant. The location was sold and renamed in 1990.
In addition to being a part of Montauk history, this crewneck has a beautiful front and back screenprint of a school of tuna with subtle color variation that shows a skill and attention to detail by the original screenprinter.
